Alpiq Expedition One
An der Schwelle zur Zukunft
To mark the opening of the Nant de Drance pumped-storage power station, Live Lab developed a three-month journey for Alpiq. The complex event in the Valais Alps was transformed into a shared expedition featuring an interactive logbook, storytelling, challenges, film clips and digital engagement. At a time of change, it enabled employees both on-site and at home to experience Alpiq’s values together.
From bottleneck to joint expedition
The power station is located 600 meters underground and almost 2,000 meters above sea level. Around 700 participants travelled to Valais in staggered groups, navigating parallel programs, separate venues and tight alpine schedules. Live Lab transformed this complexity into an engaging narrative. A guided logbook containing QR codes, audio, video, illustrations, polls, quizzes and mini games took staff on a journey through 17 chapters, covering the period before, during and after the event.
One voice bringing people together
Dora, a nature spirit from Valais, acted as the group's expedition mentor, guiding them through the story. She translated Alpiq’s purpose and values into a narrative approach, adopting a curious, critical and humorous perspective, while remaining attuned to the tension between people, nature and energy. Activities such as a coffee date lottery, climate project voting, team challenges and expedition awards brought the expedition to life even for employees who could not attend in person.
